Thorny flower

I'm not keen on posting pictures of flowers, but I'm just absolutely fascinated by the local wildlife and flowers. The pear cactus are starting to bloom on the foothill Apollo and I trek on regularly.

Unknown Soldier

I try to avoid posting flower images because they are pretty easy for most people. Why shoot something that anyone else can too?

But I couldn't resist posting this. This little specimen of blossoms is about 2 inches long at most. It's also a rare example where I was happy with the picture as-shot. All I did was crop it and tweak the contrast to make the colors pop a little more. I have no clue what this plant is.

Flower Power

Decided to take a few pictures of the very ragged, poorly maintained, half wild garden...

Rose of some kind.
No idea what this plant is, but the bumblebees LOVE it. I always see 3 or 4 buzzing around.
My tomato that's taking its sweet time growing.
Daylily of some kind.
No idea what this is. The blooming part is about the size of my thumb (2-3 inches long). Anyone know?
